Session 45

Flourishing

Throughout our work in this program we have focused on the value of coaching the person, their identity, in order to support the greatest level of development and transformation. The coaching process itself is an excellent resource to support this work, but we have also focused on various resources and tools that can be used during coaching sessions to help clients build their self-awareness in a more structured way.

However, during an extensive coach training program we can feel as if there are too many tools and resources to use effectively. On the one hand, it can be great to focus on 3-4 core tools you would most like to use from this course, but today’s work will provide additional support for using various tools and exercises based on the organization of the PERMA model.

How do we assess PERMA in coaching? We can do a simple Wheel of Life exercise using the 5 elements of PERMA, or we can leverage a PERMA-based assessment such as this one (Consider completing this assessment before class):

PERMA Profile

Here is a sample of the Wheel of Life tailored to the PERMA-H model (H being health).

We have already introduced many resources and tools that can support exploration around each of the elements of PERMA:

Take time to review the tools and resources from the training using the toolbox above. Consider noting at least one tool that supports each of the elements of PERMA. For our practice we will explore your findings from the PERMA assessment (or do a PERMA wheel if needed) and coach towards development in an area of the PERMA model.

Finally, here is the toolbox from the CSCT assessment sheet. Feel free to use this instead of the PERMA toolbox. Whichever is a best fit for you. Ultimately, it is most helpful to cultivate your own version of a toolbox with tools from this program and beyond.
