Group mentor coaching allows us to learn from reflecting on our own work and the work of others. Throughout this program, we have stretched ourselves with vulnerability and openness to critique, and my encouragement to coaches is to continue to lean in to giving and receiving feedback as a way to grow our skills beyond what we are capable of on our own.
While practically every session during the entire Level 3 program will resemble group mentor coaching, this session is specifically dedicated to fulfilling 2 hours of the 4 hours of group mentor coaching required to pass this program. If a coach is unable to attend this group mentor coaching session, they will need to arrange make up sessions with their trainer.
Please come prepared to practice during the live session with a heavy focus on feedback from the trainer and one another. As coaches take turns practices, the observing coaches will be tasked with providing feedback in specific areas so that with each practice round every participant will be growing with performing and reflecting on coaching competencies in action.
Preparing for Group Mentor Coaching
- Self Assess Recording(s)
- Self assess a recording before class and if time allows we will discuss your takeaways.
- We may also explore relevant learnings from recent 1:1 mentor coaching sessions.
- Time to complete will depend on length of sessions.
- Daily Coaching Record
- Coaches should continue reflecting on roughly 4 coaching sessions each week taking note of their learnings using a journal/record similar to the one attached below.
- Consider what patterns and persistent challenges you may find and be ready to discuss these learnings in the main session.
- Time to Complete: 20-30 minutes per week
